A Sound Healing session is like a massage for your mind and body
Using a combination of ancient instruments the beautiful frequencies and vibrations wash over the participant allowing the mind and body to soften, creating space for deep relaxation, reflection, resonance and release.

how does it work
Sound Healing works through a process of sympathetic resonance and entrainment. Sound is a type of energy made by vibrations. These vibrations create sound waves and when we experience these sound waves created by therapeutic instruments like Himalayan bowls our mind and bodies start to synchronise with the vibrations. Long and low vibrations relax, higher pitched vibrations stimulate. The mind and body then begin to enter into a state of deep relaxation where space is created for mental, physical, emotional or spiritual healing.
entrainment
After two objects share energy, Entrainment can take place and is defined as two rhythmic bodies locking into phase so that they move in harmony.
Entrainment can encourage relaxation or stimulation through a process known as ‘Auditory Driving’. This means that the sounds we hear and feel can move the mind and body, alter consciousness and allow an individual to drift into a state of being similar to a trance or deep relaxation.
sympathetic resonance
Sympathetic resonance is a natural law that informs us there is a relationship, or shared energy (vibration) between two objects.
We often use Resonance in Sound Therapy to describe the feeling when you feel connected to yourself, your surroundings or to other people. You can feel joyful, calm and serene and we try to facilitate these feelings of Resonance throughout the Sound Bath.
Alpha & Theta Brainwaves
As we begin to feel entrained by the sound waves - our brainwaves slowly synchronise with the vibrations and we have more predominant Alpha & Theta brainwave activity in the mind.
Alpha Brainwaves - mostly associated with a relaxed and calm, yet present state of mind. This state helps to reduce stress levels in the body and create stillness in the mind.
Theta Brainwaves - the state of mind between being awake and asleep. A dreamlike state (REM) where even after a short period of time you can feel mentally refreshed. Healthy theta activity may enhance our ability to process emotions and tap into our creativity and intuition.
Altered State of cOnsiousness (asc)
This is simply being in a different state of consiousness then being fully alert and awake. You experience being in ASC throughout the day such as when we feel sleepy and daydream in the afternoon.
Research has shown that spending regular periods of time in ASC can be beneficial for our mental and physical health. For example, our brains resetting sodium and potasium levels which help for efficient transport of chemicals in and around our bodies.
